Love INC

The Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) national organization is dedicated to creating, equipping and enhancing the ministry of Love INC affiliates in communities across the country. Love INC is a proven model whereby local affiliates network together local churches, church volunteers and community organizations to help people who lack resources.  Through Love INC affiliates, churches and individual Christians are mobilized to:

  • Work together across denominational lines

  • Provide coordinated help to neighbors who are in need

  • Give practical help – both tangible and intangible

As each individual church does what it can, even the most complex needs can be addressed collectively. Love INC is one of the most effective networking, outreach and mobilization tools available to churches today.

ThriVe® Women’s Healthcare of Central Virginia

ThriVe® Women’s Healthcare of Central Virginia is a Christian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on the needs of women and families facing crisis pregnancy in the Charlottesville, Albemarle, Culpeper, Orange, Greene, Madison, Buckingham, Louisa, Fluvanna, and Rappahannock Virginia communities.

For 35 years, ThriVe® Women’s Healthcare (fmr. the Pregnancy Centers) has been sharing the love of Jesus by serving women and supporting families through times of crisis and trauma. Through no-cost, confidential pregnancy tests, STI/STD testing & treatment, ultrasounds, and material assistance, we make a difference in our communities, jails, and college campuses. So—with a passion to reach the abortion-vulnerable, abortion-minded and abortion-determined in our counties, cities, and towns—we are adopting a women’s health-focused model and an evidence-based brand, which poses a strategically potent alternative to Planned Parenthood.

All of the services and resources we provide —from sexual risk avoidance education to post-abortion Bible studies—are at no cost to our clients and supplied by God through many churches, countless volunteers, supernatural blessings, and local businesses. ThriVe® Women’s Healthcare receives no governmental assistance but host fall fundraising events, walks, campaigns, dinners and appeals in order to support the sanctity of human life, an ever-increasing budget, an expanding medical ministry and the thriving of the next generation.

ThriVe® does not perform or refer for abortions, nor are we an adoption agency.

Hippo Valley Christian Mission

HVCM is one of the great mission stories in the history of the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. The mission was founded in 1956 by John and Marge Pemberton along with Dr. Dennis and Lucy Pruett. John was a prisoner of war during WWII and made a vow to God that should he get home, he would serve HIM the rest of his life. 6 months later he came home. Once home, he and his family moved to Grayson, KY to attend Bible College and prepare for whatever God had planned for him. While there, he met another WWII vet who had made a similar promise. John and Dennis became lifelong friends and partners in this great mission. Dennis went on after Bible college to receive a medical degree.

The mission began with the simple philosophy of reaching the whole person for Christ; the body, mind and soul: The body through healthcare, the mind through education and the soul through the gospel message of Jesus and His church.
More than 60 years later, those simple promises made, and kept, have resulted in thousands of lives changed for eternity!

At the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank we are driven by our core beliefs that hunger is unacceptable; that everyone deserves access to enough food; that food sustains life and nourishes health; and that we are called to serve neighbors in need without judgment. We were founded in 1981 in Staunton, VA by a 5-member board, including the man who would become the first Executive Director, Phil Grasty. By the end of the first year, the Food Bank distributed 233,000 pounds of food to the hungry through 202 member agencies in 18 counties along the spine of the Blue Ridge Mountains. At that point in time, our work was considered a “major experiment in food banking” because of the rural nature of our service area. As the need for emergency food assistance grew in other areas of the Blue Ridge region, the Food Bank expanded and relocated to a new facility in Verona, VA, now the headquarters of the organization. Three other branches were established in Charlottesville, Winchester and Lynchburg between 1982 and 1985.
